I have done 251 regular push ups so far.
Totally I have now done 1504 regular push ups in December.
Below are some things that took place in the year 1504 (from wikipedia).

I did one maltese push ups that was in good form. Pretty straining - but I will continue to do them.

I have done 30 regular push ups so far.
I also have done 19 (10+9) diamond push ups - I will consider getting some gloves since my hands were slipping.
10 diamond push ups in a row is currently my personal best.

Why the name Maltese push ups

I have not been able to find out why "Maltese push ups" are called just that.
Anyone who knows?

Maltese push ups - definition

The Maltese push up is also known as pseudo-planche. There probably more names - do you know of any?

The definition for Maltese push ups are the following (from wikipedia):

Maltese push-ups" are a gymnastic variation of the press-up, in which the hands are positioned closer to the hips (as opposed to the pectorals), but with an extremely great distance between them.

In november I did a total of 2101 regular push ups.
The most I did in a day was 506 ( new record) and the minimum was 30. I had an average of 70 regular push ups a day.

Getting close to 13000 regular push ups

I am getting close to having done 13000 (12951) regular push ups since 4th of July.
I have been at it for 139 days.
Next goal may be getting the average (a day) to 100.

Day 139 - A new personal best

Day 139:

I did 506 regular push ups. 120 of those I did outside in the snow.
My previous personal best was 411 regular push ups in a day - but I beat that with 506.

I think the world record for 24 hours is around 46300 - just as a comparison.

In november I have done 1071 regular push ups so far.
In october I did 2534 I will try to beat that.
My monthly record is 3540 ( regular) in August.

Day 138 so far

So far I have done 31 regular push ups to day ( day 138 in my push-up project).
Will try do to some more to ensure that my monthly average is above 2000.

Static push up with handles

I did a static push up with handle bar. My chin was 9 cm above the floor.
I did do the push up about 10cm broader than usual.
I was able to do 45 seconds.

Today I have so far done: 4 Hindu and 31 regular ( one above minimum).

If anyone wonders - I am using docs.google.com for statistics and charts/pictures.
I also compete against my brother and checks his results that way.

Static push ups

I am thinking of adding static push ups my routine.
I found this from sethigherstandards.com (instructions how to do static pushups ):


The technique is this: after stretching a bit, place your arms slightly wider than shoulder width apart, and lower yourself only 3 inches. Hold this pose. Do not go too far down. Your arms should be almost (but not at) their point of complete lock-out.

Doing push ups everyday - pros and cons

I have done push ups every day for 127 days now.
I have a lower limit of 30 a day.
I do it partly to improve my muscle mass, stamina and also endurance.
But I also do it to keep a mental discipline.
I cannot do 200 push ups every day without getting sore so therefor I let my body rest some days doing only 30.

I did 222 regular push ups. 100 of those were done outside.
Previous record for November was 221 therefor I did 222.

100 push ups in 100 seconds

This is a 100 in 100 Challenge. The idea is to capture yourself on video doing 100 push-ups within 100 seconds. There isn’t any real prize except the reward of knowing that you were able to accomplish a pretty difficult feat. I will gladly make a list of all the people who decided to accept this challenge, achieved it, and provided a link to a video on YouTube or some other Internet video service.

I will not accept this challenge at this time . maybe next time around.
Currently I am able to do 100 push ups in 8 minutes - I think I could push it to 6-7 minutes.

November so far

I have done 30 push ups a day three days in a row now.
I have been feeling of tired and preconditioned to catch a cold so therefor I have been taking it easy.

As seen above I managed to do over 400 hundred regular push ups in a day in August.
There is 4 peaks over 200 and some days when I did around 20.

I started to do push ups in July 2008.
First I only did regular push ups but later I also started to do wide and "the frog".

I was pretty satisified with the shape of the curve slowly but steadily improving.

This blog is dedicated to push ups.
I am trying to improve myself and to keep training as long as possible.
I am not in it for "bodybuilding aspect" but for general health and stamina/endurance and a good posture.
